About Maria Vasallo

Maria Vasallo

Maria joined Cambridge College in 2014 as Director of Marketing & Communications. She is a seasoned professional with almost three decades of proven success and holds a Bachelor of Science in communication studies from Emerson College. Maria began her career at the family-owned Caribe Communications, renowned for publishing El Mundo Boston, the area's oldest and most recognized Hispanic newspaper. Caribe has since expanded into a digital media and events company and previously aired Spanish-language programming on AM Radio. Early on, Maria played a pivotal role as a liaison for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts' cause marketing anti-smoking initiative targeting minority communities, earning the bid to serve as the multicultural vendor.

Following her role at Caribe, Maria spent nearly eight years at a Boston market research firm, where she spearheaded successful projects for major brands like HP, Disney, Kraft/Mondelez, Coca-Cola, Welch’s  Wellpoint/Anthem Insurance, and others, by translating data-driven insights into actionable marketing and business strategies, for both mainstream and Hispanic markets.

Additionally, Maria has served as board member at the renowned Boston non-profit organization, IBA (Inquilinos Boricuas en Acción), where she currently holds the position of board president. Born in Boston and raised in nearby Cambridge, Massachusetts, Maria brings a wealth of experience and a dedication to the Cambridge College community.
